Bai Bui green steppe, Hoa Binh Province, Vietnam

Bai Bui is located in Khop hamlet, Ngoc Lau commune, Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province, about 140 km from Hanoi. This area has an area of about 9 hectares covered with green grass, located at an altitude of 600 m above sea level.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Sam, a native currently working as a tourist at Bai Bui, said this was originally a cattle grazing place for local people. By 2022, the road will be renovated, and Bai Bui has only begun attracting many tourists to visit, especially on April 30.
On May 13, Vu Minh Quang (Hanoi) and friends went to Bai Bui to camp overnight after a group friend searched the internet and suggested it.

Arriving at the beach at about 10 p.m., it was already dark, so Mr. Quang could not see the scenery. The whole group gathered to set up camp, eat and rest. The next morning, when he woke up, he and his friends were surprised by the scene in front of them.
At dawn, before his eyes was a wide, flat, green lawn like a steppe. On the beach, herds of buffaloes and cows of local people leisurely graze or swim in the mud to cool off. Around are vegetable gardens and corn gardens of the people. "The landscape is simple and unspoiled like Tau cave - Moc Chau's original village is seven or eight parts," said Quang.
Summer is hot, and the temperature is relatively high, but thanks to the large and airy space, it does not feel as sultry as in the city. The gentle breeze will feel cool and comfortable under the shade of the old trees.
The old trees on the beach are called tlau, also known as Chau tree, Mr. Thunder said. Over 60 tlau trees here, hundreds of years old, were decided to preserve by the People's Council of Ngoc Lau commune in 2007. Bai Bui, Ngoc Lau commune, is one of the few areas with many ancient tlau trees, which are becoming the indigenous people's pride.
The tlau tree is a familiar plant in the life of the Muong ethnic group. The plant's young leaves are used to eat with some foods such as salted meat and rotten meat.
In the summer, the tlau tree gives off a cool green shade. The leaves turn yellow and red in winter, while other trees have lost all their leaves. "The maple leaf forest stands out in the middle of the steppe; the scene is like autumn in Europe," said Mr. Thunder.
Therefore, the ideal time to go camping at Bai Bui is in the winter, from October to December. But in the summer, Bai Bui also has its beauty with the cool green color of nature.
Under the tlau trees, local people have made some swings out of bamboo or wood for visitors to have fun. Camping, swinging, and taking photos at the beach are all free.
Bai Bui still needs to be sold as a developing location with many tourist services. Next to the beach, there is a homestay for guests to stay overnight and a few beverage stalls. The price of a homestay room ranges from 300,000 - 500,000 VND. The tent rental price for 4-5 people is about 500,000 VND.
The price of the water bar is quite high compared to the market; a bottle of mineral water costs 30,000 VND. Quang advises visitors to prepare food, water, and camping equipment in advance to be proactive and save.
The space at Bai Bui is quiet and deserted, day or night because there are few tourists. Bai Bui is Quang's favorite camping place because "the scene is similar to the literary works describing the Vietnamese countryside in the past". According to him, this is also an ideal place to avoid the heat in the summer or change the atmosphere.
The beach is located in Ngoc Son - Ngo Luong Nature Reserve, so visitors must pay special attention to preserving the landscape. Mr. Thunder said that if you want to make a campfire, visitors need to use stoves with a height of 1 m or more so as not to burn the grass. Do not climb; impact on ancient tlau trees, which forest rangers have numbered.
Visitors should bring sprays and sprays to avoid insects. To ensure the safety of vehicles when camping overnight, visitors can park their cars at tourist facilities located next to the beach, costing 5,000 VND.
