The tree is about 20 m high, the canopy has a beautiful round raspberry shape. The original body is rough and big, it is estimated that 4 people can hug it. According to the website of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment, the tree in Ngoc Tinh village (Thuan Thanh, Bac Ninh) is estimated to be more than 600 years old, and was attached to the signboard of the Vietnam Heritage Tree in 2013.

Mango tree has the scientific name Mangifera foetida Lour, belongs to the family of peaches, found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The fruit is identical to the mango, the taste is similar but when eaten it is much more sour.

The branches and branches spread widely around, falling close to the ground. There are branches reaching 20-30 m away to create shade for people here when they come back from work in the fields.

Ms. Chien (from Ngoc Tinh village) said that she did not know how the tree originated, and so far in the village’s historical documents, there is no record of where the tree came from and who planted it here. Since childhood, Ms. Chien has played under the shade of a tree, now she goes to work in the fields when it is sunny, she goes to the tree to rest to relieve fatigue.

Every afternoon, when the sun starts to soften, people in the village from the elderly to young children cycle here to enjoy the cool and fresh air.

According to local people, recently, the tree has suddenly withered away, appearing rotten branches, sparse leaves, lack of vitality. The cause is said to be that the newly made concrete road may have created a separation between the fields and trees, losing the inherent naturalness for many generations.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Viet, an elderly person in the village, said: The tree is old, so it grows quite slowly, there are branches that sprouted from a few decades ago, but now it is only taller than a person’s head. People in the village were very worried when the tree died, so they bought fertilizer and took special care of the tree to be able to live like it is now.

Muong tree still stands in the middle of Ngoc Tinh field, still protecting so many generations of people here. People in the village are still used to calling the spoon “old tree”, because this spoon is like a witness that has recorded many ups and downs of history.
