Can Gio is different in the old-style photos

HO CHI MINH CITY – The set of photos taken in Can Gio (HCMC) is in the style of a Hong Kong movie of the last century, attracting the attention of the tourist community.

The series of photos of Can Gio in the style of Hong Kong movies in the 80s of the last century by photographer Vien Dieu Phat posted on October 23 attracted the attention of the tourism community. Born in 1990, living in Ho Chi Minh City, currently working as a wedding photographer.

Can Gio, a place not too strange to the people of Ho Chi Minh City, seems to be more romantic and poetic. The series revives Hong Kong movies with the theme of a couple’s picnic, modeled by two young actors Tran Ngoc Quynh Nhu and Nguyen Minh Thoi.

Three main locations in Can Gio as the backdrop for the photo series are Can Gio Wharf – Vung Tau, Beach at Can Gio park – Can Thanh, Dan Xay tourist area. “I have been to Can Gio many times and discovered that there are many beautiful spots here, suitable for what I want to photograph. Making a series of photos in Hong Kong style, I want to introduce a different, more strange Can Gio, more beautiful to many people”, Dieu Phat shared.

Looking at the set of photos, viewers can feel the atmosphere from romantic movies, but the two main characters in the series are not lovers but just friends. “This trip is very interesting because it’s been a long time since we had the opportunity to go away from the city. Everyone in the crew is quite close to each other, so it is very comfortable, not limited to how to act, just as natural as possible. The photo series is like a memory of the group’s outing, but it has a very good effect on the young people, which makes me quite surprised”, Quynh Nhu, the female character in the photo series shared.

“Actually, Nhu and I have known each other for a long time, so we work well together. As for the feelings, I put myself in the first days of love, both a little intimate and a little shy, but no less profound. “, Minh Thoi, the male lead in the series, shared.

To get good pictures, the shooting crew also faced some difficulties. Firstly, Can Gio at this time is quite hot, the shooting locations are also quite far apart. Secondly, during this time, Can Gio has not yet operated normally. Dan Xay’s tourist area has not yet been reopened, but fortunately, the group knew a friend who worked as a tourist in Can Gio, so they could contact to take pictures.

During the epidemic, the trend of staying at home increased and many people tend to resort or choose destinations right in the city. “I think the trend of close tourism will grow stronger after this epidemic because, at present, it is still difficult to move between provinces. Finding places close to both helps us change the wind after a while. Long-term distance is both an easier way and also saves costs,” Vien Dieu Phat shared his prediction.

The set of photos currently collects nearly 6,000 likes and more than 1,200 comments. Some of the comments that made Dieu Phat feel excited and motivated to do more photos were: “Does Can Gio have Hong Kong features?”, “Vietnam has so many beautiful places”… Follow vnexpress
