Hoan Kiem Lake is located in the center of the capital, surrounded by 3 streets Hang Khay – Le Thai To – Dinh Tien Hoang. Previously, the lake also had some other names such as Luc Thuy or Thuy Quan. In the 15th century, the lake was renamed Hoan Kiem, associated with the return of the treasure sword to the golden turtle of King Le Thai To.

Linh Dam Lake with a circumference of about 1,400 m, is the largest lake in Hoang Mai district, close to Van Dien ward and Thanh Tri district. On the lake, Hanoi built an elevated Ring Road 3 crossing connecting Thanh Xuan and Cau Giay districts with the capital’s gateway.
