From Hanoi: The distance from Hanoi to Yen Tu mountain is about 130km so you can take a bus or choose a private vehicle. If traveling by private car from Hanoi capital, you follow the direction of Chuong Duong Bridge to Nguyen Van Cu Street, continue to Bac Ninh to Highway 18 and go straight to Trinh Temple. Turn left, continue about 10km to reach the foot of Yen Tu mountain. If you take a bus, you can go to the bus station to board the buses with routes to Ha Long, Uong Bi, Mong Cai, Cam Pha, … When going to Trinh Pagoda section, ask the driver to get off the bus. There you take a bus to go to Yen Tu mountain .

Walk

From the foot of the mountain, visitors can go up the mountain by road on a distance of about 6km of mountainous terrain. Although the journey is quite hard, but in return for the fresh air, the spacious landscape will quickly cheer you up. Along the way you can visit many different stops.

The walking route will include: From the parking lot, go straight 300m to reach Giai Oan stream, the most sacred stream in Yen Tu. When you come to the stream, you look to the left with a Dan Trang, remember to draw incense and burn incense to commemorate the ancient beauty palaces before going to Giai Oan Pagoda. After reaching Giai Oan pagoda, you climb through the ancient Tung street that is 700 years old. Next will climb the slope to reach the Nest Tower. You should also light a incense stick here.

Continue across the slope to reach Hoa Yen pagoda, the main temple in Yen Tu mountain. According to the experience of climbing Yen Tu, you should spend some time going to the back area of ​​the pagoda to burn incense for the three ancestors of Truc Lam: Huyen Quang, Tran Nhan Tong, Phap Loa. Next you will go to Mot Mai pagoda, a few dozen meters away, there is a steep road to climb to Bao Sai pagoda. Passing the service section of the people, stop for a moment to burn incense at the An Sinh stone statue. Normally, the trekking journey to the top of Yen Tu mountain will take about 3-5 hours.

If you are not fit to climb the mountain, you can choose to take the cable car. The cable car in Yen Tu is considered the leading modern cable car system in Vietnam with a length of 1.2km and a height of 450m. Sitting in the cabin, visitors can see the full view of Yen Tu mountain on an ideal height. First from the parking lot, you go straight through the Giai Oan bridge and then go to the temple. After incense burning here, you do not climb the mountain but go down a path on the right side of the pagoda to reach the 1 Cable car station.

After reaching station 2, you go right hand to reach Tower To and then to Hoa Yen pagoda. Continue to go to station 3 Cable car. On the way, you will see Mot Mai Pagoda, you go up there to burn incense and then go down to Station 3 so that the cable car will lead you to station 4. Go about 200m further to An Ky Sinh statue and then to Hoang Tran Nhan Buddha Square. Cardboard. Continue the journey to Dong pagoda and go down the mountain. Note that if traveling by cable car, you will not be able to reach Van Tieu Pagoda and Bao Soai Pagoda.

Travel time by cable car will also take about 3 hours. In Yen Tu mountain, there are 2 cable car routes from Giai Oan pagoda – Hoa Yen pagoda and from Hoa Yen pagoda – Buddha Hoang Tran Nhan Tong square. Round trip cable car ticket price will cost 280k / adult; 200k / child.

Giai Oan pagoda is also known as Ha pagoda, along with Dong pagoda and Hoa Yen pagoda, Giai Oan pagoda is considered as one of the three most famous and sacred pagodas in Yen Tu mountain. During your journey to conquer Yen Tu, you will arrive at the first Giai Oan pagoda, then take some time to rest here and watch the peaceful nature surrounding the temple.

Many people also call Hoa Yen pagoda the Phu Van pagoda or Ca pagoda. The temple is located on top of Yen Tu with an altitude of 516m above sea level. Previously known as Van Yen pagoda, but after King Le Thanh Tong came on a pilgrimage and visited, there was a colorful scenery around the pagoda, so it was renamed Hoa Yen pagoda.

Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen Monastery (Lan Pagoda) is the temple that King Tran Nhan Tong designated as a place to take refuge in the Buddha’s door. Later, the Emperor Buddha often came here to chant sutras and lecture the rest of his life. Called a temple but this is more like a school. That is why many tourists often visit instead of petitioning.

Yen Tu mountain climbing experience: what items should I bring? 

– Shoes: This is a very important item in the journey to the land of Yen Tu Buddha . Due to having to travel a lot in the mountains, wearing high heels will be impossible. Instead, choose a pair of bata shoes, sneakers, climbing shoes, …

– Money: This is an indispensable thing when coming to Yen Tu. However, you should not bring too much, just bring enough pepper because if you go to the festival season, there are many tourists climbing the mountain, so the theft can happen. 

– Clothing: You should wear lightweight clothes, warm winter clothes, … Because climbing will cause the body to heat up, so you do not need to wear too many layers of clothes to move. 

– Backpacks: Visitors should prepare a small backpack to set up drinking water, food when stopping can be taken out to recharge. 

– Water, food: You should prepare a little water at home because buying water along the road will often be quite expensive. Also can bring some snacks along the way!

Telephones, cameras: Besides going on pilgrimages, many tourists come here for sightseeing and check-in. So bringing a camera or phone will help you to capture the beautiful scenery.
