According to the people here, the Spider Tree is about 300 years old, located at 183 Dinh Thon Street. The tree has 2 branches, one branch in the northeast direction has a diameter of more than 1m, the branch leaning to the southwest has a smaller diameter.
The people said that there used to be 2 noodle trees, one of which was in the construction planning of a company, so they destroyed it. The current Spider Tree, because it is located on the sidewalk, people have used iron around to protect the tree.
Mr. Lam (villager) said: “Noodle tree is familiar to people for generations here, witnessing many ups and downs of the village”.
The Spider Tree is a broad canopy tree that blooms most in full bloom in the February of lunar calendar, then gradually sparsers, but when the season turns to summer, when it rains, the trees bloom again and flower in clusters very eye-catching. Noodle flowers grow in clusters towards the tip of the branch, flowers are white and yellow.
The tree is about 30 meters high, is in brilliant flowering period, the entire canopy of yellow trees makes many people curious.
Noodles is an ideal destination for many people after hard working hours.
Regarding the name of the Spider Tree, many people in Dinh Thon village said that the reason for the name is because the Spider Treeflower cluster has 2 colors, has a white inflorescence, the petals are shaped like a leaf vermicelli, with bright yellow inflorescences. .
Some people also said that the reason for calling the name Spider Treewas because in the old days when people were hungry, people used to worship, including Spider Treeand then brought to the stump for the beggars everywhere to eat.

Noodles is a species of the genus Crateva, of the Cap family. Another name is the family Bach Hoa or Curtain Curtain (capparaceae).


Noodle flowers have two colors: white and yellow. Each flower produces more than a dozen purple-red stamens.


Spider Tree characteristics

Spider Tree is a medium-sized tree, 15 – 20 m high, with a fat round body, strong branches, and brownish-gray bark; Branches are often curved, very supple (perhaps the name Spider Tree since); leaflets 3 leaflets ovoid shape, pointed tip, slightly musty green color.

The flower cluster at the end of the branch, carries many large white or milky white flowers, sometimes falls orange-yellow, each flower carries from 13-18 stamens up to tens of cm long, red or purple stamens, when the flowers bloom, the stamens are first The petals look like a spider, so Spider Tree has the English name Spider Tree (spider tree).



When blooming, flowers grow in clusters towards the tip of the branch, swaying in the wind.

Due to the humid nature, often grows naturally in moist areas along rivers, canals, fields … so it is often called Spider Tree Nuoc . Bun plants usually flower around April – June, depending on the sub-climatic conditions where they live, flowering time may be earlier or later.

In the condition where the soil is sufficiently moist, the soil layer is thick, the fertility is high, flowers bloom when the plant is full of leaves, forming white patches on the green background of the foliage, which looks beautiful. On the contrary, in the arid, squash, nutrient-poor land, Spider Tree blooms when its branches are almost empty, causing the whole tree to have a white arch or a milky white dome with a yellowish-orange color.



Compared to many species grown in the city, the Spider Tree does not lose in shade coverage, even somewhat better thanks to its brilliant beauty in the blooming season.

For a long time, in many places in Southern China and Southeast Asia, people have chosen Spider Tree tree as landscape tree. In many Asian countries, including Vietnam, trees are often grown in temples, shrines … so it is also called Temple Plant.
