The two churches of the Nam Phuong family queen

HO CHI MINH CITY – The Church of Huyen Si and Hanh Thong Tay is built by the grandfather and uncle of Nam Phuong Hoang Hau, inside there are the graves of two people.

12 km from Huyen Si Church, Hanh Thong Tay Church (Go Vap district) was donated by Denis Le Phat An and built in 1921. He is the son of Mr. Le Phat Dat, the biological uncle of Queen Nam Phuong.

The church was built in three years, constructed by a French contractor. The contractor chose the Byzantine style design, modeled after the Basilica of Vitale in the Italian city of Ravenna.

The main dome of the church is 30 meters high, with a simple design, the top of the roofs are crosses. The choice of Byzantine architecture makes Hanh Thong Tay Church different from the majority of ancient churches in Vietnam – often with Gothic or Roman architectural style.

Inside the cathedral has an area of ​​more than 500 m2, is lavishly decorated to create dignity and rich in artistic value. The dome-shaped dome is made of fine-grained reliefs. The wall panels are decorated with unique Mosaic stone mosaics.
