Raw materials for drumming include jackfruit wood and buffalo skin. According to the workers here, wood is purchased from many places, mainly Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and buffalo skin is imported from slaughterhouses in Nam Dinh and some neighboring provinces.

To create a complete drum, the villagers of Doi Tam have to go through three main stages: Skin making, funeral and drumming. The drum skin is made of buffalo skin. Buffalo skin is shaved to thin the embryo and then dried.

The drum is made of dry jackfruit wood, bent sawn. Each tree is divided into many chips.

The drummer will make the chips stick together with milk glue, forming a tight, tight, round drum. Blank chips are not allowed to be connected because they will affect the sound.
The empty frames are erected after the mount is polished.
Holding the drum is the most important step, deciding the drum sound. The worker will stretch the buffalo skin on the drum surface and then use a bolt or bamboo nail to fix it on the drum body.
The craftsman steps on the drum after being covered with buffalo skin.
The mechanic will proceed to shave off the hair after attaching the skin to the drum.
