The gliders will start from Co To Mountain, fly across Ta Pa fields and land at a bull racing track in Ho Soai Chek tourism zone, all in Tri Ton District.
Tran Minh Giang, vice chairman of Tri Ton District People’s Committee, said this is the first time a paragliding show is hosted here.
“Along with the desire to introduce paragliders in Vietnam to the new paragliding spot at Co To Mountain, we also aim to promote this destination and diversify tourism products to attract more visitors,” he said.
After the paragliding event, the district plans to host a bull race along with artistic performances by Khmer ethnic people.
Ta Pa fields that stretch to the foot of Co To Mountain are a tourist attraction of An Giang Province which borders Cambodia. The spot attracts visitors all year round, especially during the rice harvest season from August to early December.
Ta Pa is also a spiritual hub with an eponymous Khmer Buddhist temple that offers expansive views of the area.
According to the Center of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tri Ton District, in the first 11 months of 2020, the locality has welcomed about 366,000 visitors, of this the majority visited Ba Chuc Tombs, historic site Tuc Dup, and Ta Pa fields.
Chau Vuth Thi, deputy director of the center, said by 2025, the district expects to welcome around 800,000 to 1 million tourists.
In its socio-economic development plan for 2020-2025, the locality aims to attract investment in eco, spiritual, cultural, and historical tourism combined with sports like bull racing, paragliding, and off-road racing.
