The northern mountainous region is still an attractive destination for visitors. Ma Pi Leng, O Quy Ho, Khau Pha and Pha Din are the four highest passes in Vietnam.

The four most majestic passes in Vietnam

Almost 50 km long, O Quy Ho holds the title of the longest pass in Vietnam. Located on the National 4D, crossing the mountain range of Hoang Lien Son, connecting the provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau, it rises to 2073 m altitude. Photo: Roxanne.tu.

Ma Pi Leng is 20 km long, around the top of Ma Pi Leng mountain, 2000 m high, connecting Meo Vac to Dong Van. Ma Pi Leng is considered one of the most dangerous passes in Vietnam. It attracts a lot of photography enthusiasts. Photo: Haipham135.

Khau Pha Pass is located between the two districts of Van Chan and Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai Province.
