Vietnam prioritizes digital transformation

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam has set a target of being in the world's top 70 in 2025 and in the world's top 50 in 2030 in terms of development. e-government an official from the Ministry of Information and Communication said.

During the “Why Vietnam?” Conference organized on October 21 in Hanoi as part of the ITU Digital World 2020 fair, Do Cong Anh, deputy head of the Computerization Department informed about the National Strategy for the digital transformation of Vietnam and the investment potentials for specialized companies in technology.

Vietnam will prioritize digital transformation in health, education, finance, banking, agriculture, transport and communications…, he said.

By 2025 the digital economy is expected to contribute 20% of national GDP, the proportion of the digital economy in each sector is expected to reach at least 10%, and production is expected to grow by at least 70% annually.

Regarding the development of the digital society and the reduction of the digital gap, in 2030 Vietnam will deploy fiber optic broadband internet services and 5G service in all localities of the country. 80% of the Vietnamese population will use electronic payment. Vietnam will be among the top 30 countries in the world in terms of cybersecurity.

To achieve these goals, the Vietnamese government has launched concrete guidelines and strategies for digital transformation to make the country an attractive destination for tech companies, Do Cong Anh added. -VNA
