Hanoi (VNA) - The 5th ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC-5) was held online on October 7 hosted by Singapore.
A Vietnamese delegation led by Major General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security attended the event.
Delegates debated two important topics: implementing cyber behavior standards and determining areas for cooperation and capacity building to protect the network.
Taking the floor, the Minister of Communications and Information, also Minister of Cybersecurity of Singapore, S. Iswaran, stressed that a secure and well-protected digital infrastructure must be built to create the basis for the development of the digital economy in the region. Therefore, it is more important than ever for ASEAN to work together to address cybersecurity challenges holistically and sustainably and in a spirit of collaboration.
Sharing the same view as the Singaporean official, ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi said the COVID-19 had changed the way of living and working. Digital transformation is present in all areas and pillars of ASEAN. Forms of learning or working online, shopping online is now part of the "New Normal".
Speaking at the conference, General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security, stressed, “As an ASEAN member country, Vietnam is committed to actively and responsibly participating in the mechanisms. cooperation to ensure the safety and security of the network. ".
Vietnam recognizes the need and importance of establishing responsible codes of conduct on the network to maintain a healthy and secure cyberspace. The government of Vietnam instructed the Ministry of Public Security to build and perfect the legal framework for cybersecurity, in accordance with regional and international standards, facilitating the work of network security, prevention and control of cybercrime in Vietnam as well as as the process of international cooperation to maintain peace and stability in cyberspace.
Vietnam was implementing the "National Digital Transformation Agenda 2025 Vision 2030" with the aim of bringing Vietnam into the group of Top 50 Electronic Government Countries (EGDI). In this digital transformation process, security and safety of information is the key factor in creating a secure environment for digital transformation.
Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security has focused on enhancing cybersecurity potentials to protect important information infrastructure; on research, development, application of software, modern technology equipment for the protection of information infrastructure; on sharing experiences and strengthening international cooperation to respond quickly to attacks on these information infrastructures. -VNAsource
