Research on Viettel AI Open Platform by the Vietnam Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) began in 2016 providing artificial intelligence (AI) technology to automate and optimize the operation of organizations and businesses.

According to Nguyen Manh Quy, Director of the Viettel Cyberspace Center (VTCC), Viettel AI Open Platform was developed with the aim of bringing world-class cutting edge technologies to benefit individuals, organizations and businesses.

Specifically, Viettel AI Open Platform provides diverse AI technologies such as Vietnamese-language speech processing technology, Vietnamese natural language processing technology and computer vision technology. Voice synthesis technology allows the conversion of Vietnamese text into artificial voice at a natural level equivalent to 95 percent of real human voice. In addition, speech recognition technology enables the conversion of Vietnamese voice into text with recognition accuracy up to 95 percent, and computer vision technology enables image recognition with up to 98 percent accuracy.

VTCC supplies these technologies as automated solutions for interacting with customers by voice (Cyberbot), meeting note solutions (Meeting Note), customer identity verification (eKYC) and solutions for automatically converting text and images into digital data (OCR).

According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung, the national digital transformation program emphasizes the application of new technologies, especially AI, to promote the development of modern digital government, digital economy and digital society in Vietnam.

Viettel AI Open Platform is one of the few platforms that provide a full range of artificial intelligence tools for digital transformation applications in Vietnam, automating and enhancing the experience of users and optimizing cost, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung said.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has introduced a variety of platforms for online learning and training, remote medical consultation, VOV Bacsi24 online health consultation support, Vietnamese cloud computing, the Vpostcode postal code platform, Zavi online video conferencing platforms, Comeet, Stringee communication programing platform, AkaChain Blockchain technology platform, and more.

In order to strengthen research cooperation to contribute to promoting the national digital transformation project, Viettel applies a policy of providing free open AI platforms for individuals, businesses and organizations in application development phase, and they only charge fee or become partner if the products are commercialized.
