Danang welcomes first foreign air passengers on Tet holiday

HCMC – Flight VZ964 transporting 100 passengers from Bangkok, Thailand arrived in Danang City yesterday morning, January 22, making them the first international tourists to visit this central coastal city on the first day of the Year of the Cat.

The Tourism Department of Danang City in coordination with aviation authorities held a ceremony yesterday to welcome these foreign visitors, the local media reported.

The welcome ceremony featured art performances to serve the visitors. They were also given gift vouchers as lucky items for the lunar new year to use services at local tourist destinations and restaurants during their stay in Danang.

Deputy director of the municipal Tourism Department Nguyen Xuan Binh said the municipal tourism authority held the welcome ceremony in order to create a vibrant atmosphere for the visitors on the occasion of the lunar new year.

During the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet), from January 20 to 26, Danang is expected to receive 768 domestic and international flights, with more than 98,000 tourists.

A wide selection of cultural and art activities including street festivals, and spring fairs are taking place in this central beach city during Tet to serve locals and international visitors.
