Eighth National External Information Service Awards launched

The press conference on the 8th National External Information Service Awards

NDO - The Party Central Committee (PCC)’s Commission for Information and Education, the Steering Committee for External Information, Nhan Dan Newspaper and related agencies held a press conference on April 19, 2022, to launch the eighth National External Information Service Awards after seven successful seasons.

The annual awards aim to recognise and honour outstanding authors and press works in the field of external information and contribute to promoting the country’s development achievements in various areas. Nhan Dan Newspaper is the permanent organiser of the eighth National External Information Service Awards.

Addressing the press conference, alternate member of the PCC, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education, and Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for External Information, Le Hai Binh, emphasised that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused extremely difficult consequences in many areas for the entire world over recent years, while the world situation has seen many rapid and complicated changes, particularly the conflict in Ukraine causing profound impacts on international relations and world order as well as disruptions to the global production and supply chain.

In that context, Vietnam continues to firmly overcome difficulties and challenges, achieving many significant achievements in various fields thanks to the sound leadership of the Party, the flexible management of the State, the efforts of the whole political system, and the consensus and support of all classes of people at home and abroad.

Prominent are positive results in socio-economic recovery and development, the successful completion of Vietnam’s term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, as well as the enhanced fortune, potential, and international position and prestige of Vietnam. The increasing attention of the political class and international media about Vietnam continues to be a positive signal and a source of material and inspiration for authors and groups to create meaningful and valuable press works on external information.

Over the past seven consecutive editions, the National External Information Service Awards have become a prestigious and quality brand of this kind, attracting great attention from both domestic and foreign reporters. It has also been a forum for authors and groups to exchange and improve their expertise and professionalism as well as opened up a space for external information service workers in the country and abroad to make full use of creativity.

In 2021, the Organising Board of the seventh National External Information Service Awards received 1,053 submissions in 15 languages over ten categories including printed newspaper, online newspaper, news website, radio, television, photo, book, video clip and idea. Especially, the seventh edition attracted the participation of 32 foreign authors and press agencies, 14 Overseas Vietnamese and 14 Vietnamese embassies in other countries.

Many works, which were produced in foreign languages or by foreigners, reflected a deeper, more positive, multidimensional and comprehensive vision of the land, culture and people of Vietnam as well as the country’s relations with the international community.

Following the successes over the past seven seasons, the PCC’s Commission for Information and Education and the Steering Committee on External Information Work officially launched the eighth National External Information Service Awards.
