Germany Supports Vietnam with Another 2.6 million Vaccine Doses

On Dec. 10, 2021, another German vaccine donation - 2,558,000 doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine - arrived in Hanoi. The vaccine donation was supplied via the COVAX facility.

On the occasion of the handover, the German Ambassador to Vietnam, Dr. Guido Hildner, said that with this donation, Germany reaffirmed its solidarity with Vietnam in fighting and overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. The current situation shows that the pandemic is far from being defeated, he said. Germany will provide Vietnam with further vaccine supplies through the COVAX International Vaccine Platform, he said.

Germany has already donated numerous vaccines and medical equipment to Vietnam this year. Germany will also support Vietnam with additional vaccine doses, bringing the total number of vaccines donated by Germany to Vietnam to over 10 million doses, he said.

Germany is proud to further support Vietnam's vaccination campaign with these donations and to actively demonstrate our deepened cooperation on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between Germany and Vietnam.

On September 27th, Germany donates another 2.6 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Viet Nam. Addressing the event, Deputy Foreign Minister To Anh Dung expressed sincere thanks to the German Government for having gifted Viet Nam with 3.45 million vaccine doses and medical equipment and supplies. This is an expression of the solidarity between the two countries in the 10th year of their strategic partnership (October 11, 2011 – October 11, 2021).

Germany Ambassador to Viet Nam Guido Hildner said this was the second delivery of vaccines from Germany within two weeks, affirming that Germany stands with Viet Nam in fighting and overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, Germany has donated almost 6 million vaccine doses to Vietnam through COVAX and more vaccines doses will come in the near future.
