NDO - The first batch of Remdesivir arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport on August 5.

Due to difficulties in the transportation situation, the shipments must be divided into small batches, so the medicine will be delivered continuously. It is expected that by next week, the next batch of drugs will arrive in Vietnam for prompt transfer to the Ministry of Health for urgent treatment of serious patients.
Thus, less than a week since the announcement, Vingroup has imported about 100,000 vials of Covid-19 treatment. The remaining quantity will in turn be transferred to Vietnam in August.
Importing a large number of therapeutic drugs in a very short time in the context of the difficult access to the drug Remdesivir globally is an impressive effort for the community.

Remdesivir is an anti-virus drug approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States to treat COVID-19 patients.

With the ability to shorten treatment time and speed up recovery of patients whose disease progression is severe, Remdesivir has been included in the treatment regimens of 50 countries, including the US, EU, Australia, Japan, Singapore, and India, and it has become one of the leading hard-to-access specialised drugs in the world.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the Medical Examination and Treatment Management Department under the Ministry of Health, the Medical Examination and Treatment Management Department and the Professional Council held a meeting on August 6 to add Remdesivir to the treatment regimen for Covid-19 patients.

Regarding this drug, at an online meeting on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic held on August 2, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long emphasised that as soon as Remdesivir arrives to Vietnam, this drug will always be used to treat Covid-19 patients.

In addition, in the near future, Vietnam will import some other drugs that have the effect of supporting Covid-19 treatment.
