HCMC – Do Chi Thanh, former director of the Phu Bai International Airport in Thua Thien-Hue Province, and Le Van Loc, former deputy director of the airport, have been prosecuted and detained for the alleged embezzlement of property.

The provincial Police Department yesterday, July 28, issued decisions to prosecute and arrest these two former leaders of the airport on charges of property embezzlement, based on Article 353 of the Penal Code. The decisions were then approved by the provincial People’s Procuracy, reported Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper.

Before being arrested, Thanh and Loc had been dismissed from their posts after a while of being suspended from work for the competent forces to inspect their wrongdoings in auctioning and signing franchise contracts on taxi services at the airport from October in 2017 to January this year.

Earlier, the provincial investigators on July 24 confirmed they had issued a decision prosecuting and arresting Tran Xuan Long, office chief of the airport, on charges of property embezzlement.

Initial investigation results showed that from October in 2017 to January this year, during his time involved in the management and operation of the Phu Bai airport, Long, aged 43, residing in the central province’s Huong Thuy Town, had abused his position and powers to appropriate VND5 billion by franchising taxi services at the airport to Phu Hoang Thinh JSC (Vang Taxi) and the TC Hue Taxi Company (Thanh Cong Taxi).
