HCMC – The Hanoi government began city-wide social distancing under the prime minister's Directive 16 for 15 days from 6 a.m. today, July 24, to stop the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Due to the complicated developments of the pandemic in the city and the country as a whole given the Delta coronavirus variant, the Hanoi authorities consider fighting the pandemic as the top priority, the local media reported.

Accordingly, all non-urgent activities and meetings must be suspended, while necessary ones should be held virtually.

All residents were asked to stay at home and go out only if necessary, such as to buy food or medicines or go to work at factories or businesses that are open.

They must keep a safe physical distance of at least two meters and avoid gatherings of more than two people in public places. People in the city must make online health declarations daily and inform local authorities immediately if they develop a fever and a cough.

The city also called on residents to stay calm and support its anti-pandemic measures. The city has prepared sufficient food and essential commodities, so residents should not buy products for stockpiling.

Trade centers, supermarkets, traditional wet markets, wholesale markets, grocery stores and retail outlets in the city can only sell essential items. Funerals must not gather more than 20 people.

Entities that are allowed to operate must follow anti-pandemic requirements. The owners will be responsible for ensuring the safety of their employees and customers.

Factories outside industrial parks and clusters must register their operations with the ward, commune and town authorities and strictly comply with anti-pandemic measures.

In addition, the city has suspended all passenger transport services, except for those serving the fight against the pandemic and diplomatic purposes and transporting workers and experts.
