HCMC - The HCMC government on July 8 deployed a home quarantine pilot for those in direct contact with Covid-19 patients citywide to ease the overload at concentrated quarantine centers and avoid cross infection.

These direct contacts quarantined at home must possess a negative result of a quick Covid-19 test, the local media reported.

The direct contacts under home quarantine are those who have come into close contact with Covid-19 patients, but infrequently; people working in the same room with Covid-19 patients, but keeping a distance of over two meters, and others being the elderly, aged over 60, children, pregnant women and the disabled, who need care.

Besides, people who have undergone 14 days at concentrated quarantine centers and tested negative for the virus on the 14th day of their 14-day quarantine period are subject to home quarantine.

The quarantined people have been asked not to leave their rooms and come into close contact with their family members and pets. They must always turn on the Vietnam Health Declaration and Bluezone apps and check their body temperature regularly.

Their samples will be taken five times on the first, fifth, 14th, 20th and 28th days during their 28-day home quarantine period. Healthcare centers will conduct Covid-19 tests on these quarantined people.

As for those completing their 14-day quarantine at concentrated quarantine facilities, their samples will be collected two times.

The government of Thu Duc City and other districts, wards, communes and towns were tasked with checking the home quarantine conditions of those in direct contact with confirmed cases and their compliance with regulations on quarantine.

As of July 8, HCMC saw over 53,190 people under quarantine, with 15,000 of them at concentrated quarantine centers.
