HCMC gives detailed guidelines on social distancing under Directive 16

HCMC - The HCMC government has issued detailed guidelines on social distancing in line with the prime minister’s Directive 16, which will be applied in the city from tomorrow, July 9. An outline of the guidelines follow.

- Families should keep a safe distance from other families, residential groups from other residential groups, quarters from other quarters, communes/wards/towns from other communes/wards/towns and districts from other districts.

- The steering committees of Covid-19 infection prevention and control in districts and Thu Duc City must enforce Covid-19 safety regulations.

- People must refrain from going out except for urgent purposes.

+ To buy food, medicines and other necessities

+ Urgent cases such as emergencies, medical checkups, fires, natural disasters, funerals

+ For work at State-run agencies or diplomatic units, or as armed forces

- When venturing out for urgent purposes, residents must wear face masks, wash their hands regularly, avoid gatherings of more than two people outside offices, schools and hospitals and maintain a safe physical distance of at least two meters.

- Residents must strictly follow anti-virus measures and make health declarations.

- The governments of wards, communes and towns must set up monitoring teams to work round the clock. These teams are in charge of preventing mass gatherings and imposing harsh sanctions on violators and administrative fines on those who go out for non-essential reasons.

- Continue the suspension of non-essential services and activities and close wholesale markets and traditional markets if they fail to meet Covid-19 safety regulations.

- Suspension of lottery retail and takeaway food and drink services for 15 days from midnight, July 9.

- Production factories, construction sites, construction projects; suppliers of essential goods such as food, medicines, fuels, power, water and materials; banks, treasuries, cargo transport service operators, import-export service providers and medical checkup and treatment services are allowed to remain operational, but must strictly comply with Covid-19 safety protocols.

- State-owned units or agencies must allow their employees to work from home, with a few exceptions such as those on duty or in special circumstances, and stop all non-essential meetings except for Covid-19-related ones which must comply with Covid-19 safety protocols and gather fewer than 10 persons.

- The number of workers at these agencies must not exceed one-third of their total employees. Meanwhile, the health sector must ensure 100% of forces and medical workers to serve the fight against the disease.

- Suspension of public passenger transport services using autos and motorbikes and restriction on the travel of residents, except for urgent or essential reasons.

- Suspension of the operations of several waterway routes, exclusive of the Can Gio-Can Giuoc, Can Thanh-Thanh An and Thanh An-Thieng Lieng routes.
