Three elderly Covid-19 patients die

HCMC - The Ministry of Health has reported three more Covid-19 deaths, who were elderly patients with underlying health conditions, taking the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 105 as of this morning, July 8.

The 74-year-old man, a resident of District 4 in HCMC, had a medical history of hepatitis C, liver cancer, hypertension and type 2 diabetes, according to the subcommittee of treatment under the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

He tested positive for Covid-19 on June 17 and received treatment at the Can Gio Covid-19 treatment hospital in the city from June 18 to 25. The patient was transferred to Trung Vuong Hospital on June 25. After treatment efforts, he was pronounced dead due to pneumonia caused by Covid-19, hepatitis C, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and acute kidney failure on July 3.

Another death was a 72-year-old woman who lived in Danang City. The patient developed symptoms of cough and sore throat on June 18 and tested positive for the virus on the same day.

She was admitted to the Danang Lung Hospital for treatment on June 19. She died of severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19, diabetes, septic shock, multi-organ failure, heart failure and gastrointestinal bleeding on July 7.

The remaining one Covid-19 death was a 67-year-old female resident of Bac Giang Province. She had a medical history of hypertension and diabetes. On June 3, she developed symptoms of cough and sore throat and tested positive for Covid-19.

The patient was taken to the Bac Giang Lung Hospital for treatment, and was then transferred to the national hospital for tropical diseases in Hanoi City on June 13. She was pronounced dead due to septic shock, ARDS pneumonia caused by Covid-19, hypertension, multi-organ failure and diabetes on July 5.
