HCMC - The Party Central Committee today, July 6, expelled former Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang from the Party and removed Tran Van Nam, secretary of the Binh Duong Province Party Committee, from all Party posts during the 2010-2015, 2015-2020 and 2020–2025 terms for their violations.

The decisions were made at the second working day of the third plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee, the local media reported.

Hoang was disciplined more than three months after he was sentenced to 11 years behind bars for his violations in the illegal transfer of a prime land lot at the Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Company.

He was accused of violating regulations on the management and use of State assets, causing losses and wastefulness.

In January 2017, Hoang was stripped of his title as former Minister of Industry and Trade for committing violations of the regulations on personnel management during his tenure. Earlier, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat dismissed Hoang from the position of secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the 2011-2016 tenure.

As for Tran Van Nam, on June 18, the Politburo proposed the Party Central Committee discipline Nam as he must be held accountable for the violations committed by the standing board of the Binh Duong Party Committee in the 2015-2020 period.

He also flouted working regulations, the policies of the Binh Duong Party Committee and the law on the management and use of State capital and assets at the Binh Duong Production and Import-Export Corporation, aka Corporation 3-2.

He had been found to have showed slack leadership and poor supervision and directed the legalization of documents, causing losses for the State.

In addition, while serving as provincial vice chairman, Nam had signed decisions on land use fees that violated regulations on land management and thus caused big losses for the State.

He also failed to deploy a plan to use 43 hectares of land at Corporation 3-2, approved the illegal transfer of the Tan Phu project to a private firm, and allowed Corporation 3-2 to illegally use 145 hectares of land for capital contribution to the Tan Thanh Company.

On June 10, the National Election Council issued a resolution not to recognize the status of Nam as a newly elected National Assembly deputy as he failed to meet the necessary criteria.
