HCMC – The Ministry of Health this morning, June 26, reported 15 new Covid-19 cases and HCMC updated 563 cases detected within 24 hours from 6 a.m. on June 24 to the national Covid-19 case management system.

The 15 new cases included two imported cases in Khanh Hoa Province and 13 locally-infected cases, with five each in Tay Ninh and Bac Giang, two in Long An and one in Thai Binh.

Five of them were detected at quarantine facilities or in areas under lockdown.

With the updated 563 cases tallied, from June 24 to 25, HCMC had 724 Covid-19 cases, the highest for a single day in Vietnam.

As of this morning, Vietnam has confirmed 13,364 domestic infections and 1,751 imported cases. The country’s Covid-19 tally in the latest wave since April 27 has reached 11,794, nearly four times higher than the total cases in the three previous waves.

In Long An Province, a doctor in the field hospital No. 1, established in the campus of the Long An Lung Hospital, has tested positive for Covid-19.

The 100-bed hospital started its operation since June 23 and is treating 30 Covid-19 patients.

On June 25, employees of the hospital underwent Covid-19 tests and the case was detected.

He has stayed at the hospital after being assigned to treat Covid-19 patients. Nevertheless, the local authorities have locked down his neighborhood and traced those in close contact with him before he has worked at the field hospital.

Meanwhile, the Haiphong government has requested tracing residents returning from HCMC from June 1 after the city detected two pandemic infection clusters.

According to the municipal steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control, all of the cases in the city were linked to a coach of Trung Duc Company which violated the city’s requirement to suspend passenger transport services between Haiphong and HCMC.

Therefore, the city has ordered the suspension of tourist sites from 6 p.m. on June 25.

In addition, festivals, religious events, and cultural, sport and entertainment activities with 10 people and over have been banned.

Restaurants or eateries must ensure the minimum distance of two meters between customers and must not serve more than 10 people at a same time. They have been encouraged to offer takeaway services.
