HCMC – Bac Giang Province, which is among the biggest hotspots during the latest resurgence of Covid-19 in Vietnam, decided to remove social distancing restrictions imposed on Bac Giang City from 6 a.m. today, June 24.

Le Anh Duong, chairman of the provincial government, said that the city will continue practicing anti-virus measures in line with the prime minister’s Directive 19, the local media reported.

The provincial government authorized the city and districts to decide whether to continue suspending or allow non-essential services to reopen based on their Covid-19 situation, Duong added.

Eateries are allowed to reopen and have to halve their seating capacity to allow diners to distance themselves from one another. Meanwhile, beauty salons, game shops, karaoke and massage parlors will remain shut.

Interprovincial passenger transport services are permitted to resume operations but they have to practice anti-virus measures as required by the Ministry of Transport.

Local schools were asked to ensure their students follow social distancing regulations during their study and break time. Similarly, factories and manufacturing facilities have to implement preventive measures to ensure the safety of their employees.

Earlier, due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, the province decided to impose social distancing on Bac Giang City starting from 3 p.m. on May 19 in line with the prime minister’s Directive 15.

According to the provincial anti-Covid-19 steering committee, the northern province reported 11 infections on June 23. New daily cases could rise in the upcoming days but would remain modest, with most of them expected to be found in quarantine centers or areas under lockdown.

Further, the province is set to bring the pandemic under control by the end of this month.
