NDO/VNA - The national COVID-19 vaccine fund has received more than VND5.08 trillion (US$221.34 million) worth of donations from 296,215 organisations and individuals as of 5pm on June 14, according to the fund's management board.
The Ministry of Finance, which is in charge of the vaccine fund, said the fund-raising campaign is being effective, obtaining a large amount of donations.
Vietnam needs 150 million doses of vaccines to administer about 75 percent of its population this year, with total cost amounting to VND25.2 trillion. The State budget has so far prepared more than VND14 trillion to cover expense and is short of some VND11 trillion.
The ministry said that it will publicise the amount of donations the fund receives every day along with the spending of money from the fund for the purpose on its recently launched website.
