HCMC – The transport authority of Danang recently received a proposal from its counterpart in the neighboring province of Quang Nam about the resumption of passenger transport services linking the two localities, said a local transport official at a Covid-19-related meeting on June 11.

The proposal was put forward after Quang Nam went through 31 days without any fresh locally-infected cases and Danang also reported no new domestic infections for 25 days, reported VietnamPlus.

Speaking at the meeting, a representative of the Danang Transport Department said that the department also wants to resume the transport services between the two localities, as long as vehicles do not use more than 50% of their seats.

As for interprovincial buses, the department suggested that they remain suspended as Danang has yet to reopen bus services in the city.

Le Quang Nam, vice chairman of the municipal government, stressed that the resumption of interprovincial transport services between Danang, Quang Nam and other localities is essential. He asked the transport department to team up with the relevant agencies to work out a detailed plan for the resumption and submit it to the municipal government for consideration and approval.

The vice chairman also requested the Danang government’s office to comprehensively evaluate the Covid-19 development in the city and introduce appropriate plans to relax anti-virus measures once the city goes 28 days without recording any fresh domestic infections.

Further, Nam asked the local competent forces to ramp up efforts to check the compliance with Covid-19 safety measures among service providers that have been allowed to resume operations. Violators must be tackled seriously, he noted.
