HCMC - Vietnam’s Covid-19 death toll has risen to 51 after a 63-year-old Covid-19 patient in Thanh Mien District, Hai Duong Province, died on June 4, the Ministry of Health announced.
The man, who was identified as the country’s 3,153rd Covid-19 patient, died of septic shock and pneumonia due to Covid-19, ankylosing spondylitis and scoliosis.
He was suffering from ankylosing spondylitis for more than 10 years without treatment as well as a fever that lasted two months before he was taken to the Hai Duong Province General Hospital on April 28.
On May 7, he tested positive for Covid-19 and was sent to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment.
After a month of intensive care and treatment, the patient's condition did not improve and gradually worsened until he passed away.
This is also the 15th Covid-19 death in the country during the fourth Covid-19 wave, which started on April 27.
