HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh last night, May 24, issued an urgent dispatch over the deployment of Covid-19 safety measures at industrial zones, amid the increasingly complicated Covid-19 situation in the community, especially at industrial parks in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces that could disrupt large-scale supply chains.

With 70,000 factories and over 300 industrial zones being active nationwide, PM Chinh said that the possibility of further outbreaks at these facilities is extremely high. Thus, to curb the spread of the disease effectively, more measures need to be taken to ensure the normal operations of these facilities, to avoid disrupting manufacturing activities, especially at major corporations and multinational companies, to minimize the impact on regional and nationwide economic growth, reported Tuoi Tre Online.

The head of the Government asked ministries, agencies and local authorities to fulfil their responsibilities and strictly follow directives over Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

Chairpersons of provinces and cities and ministers of Industry and Trade, Planning and Investment have to direct industrial zones and factories to comply with Covid-19 safety protocols, evaluate and update their Covid-19 safety levels on Covid-19 safety maps. Facilities that fail to ensure safe operations and update their Covid-19 safety levels will be suspended, the prime minister stressed.

The heads of local authorities have to ask all employees at industrial zones, factories and other relevant organizations such as services and food providers to make mandatory health declarations. Violators would be tackled seriously.

Further, the Prime Minister demanded that the Ministry of Health issue quarantine and testing guidelines for employees at industrial parks and factories based on the Covid-19 situation of each region, so that these facilities could maintain or quickly resume operations in case they are hit by the virus.
