NDO – Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man has sent a letter of congratulations to the Khmer ethnic people on the occasion of their traditional Chol Chnam Thmay (New Year) festival.

In his message, on behalf of the VFF, the official extended his best wishes to all people, dignitaries and monks, heroic Vietnamese mothers, heroes of the people’s armed forces, soldiers, and children of the Khmer ethnic group.

He noted that although natural disasters and disease have caused tremendous losses of life and properties, our country has continued gaining significant achievements in boosting economic growth and consolidating national solidarity, making Vietnam a shining example in the prevention and control of COVID-19.

He attributed those successes partly to the joint efforts of the entire Party, army and people, particularly the important contributions of the Khmer people.

He said this year’s Chol Chnam Thmay festival is special as 2021 is not only the first year of the implementation of the 13th National Party Congress’ Resolution but also witnesses the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure. The 2021 festival also takes place at a time when people are exerting great efforts to realise the dual tasks of boosting economic development as well as fighting COVID-19 pandemic.

hThe VFF leader expressed his hope that Khmer ethnic community will promote solidarity to overcome difficulties and build a better life.

He also wished a peaceful, warm and happy Chol Chnam Thmay Festival to all Khmer dignitaries, monks, and people.
