HCMC – The capital city of Hanoi has reported one new suspected Covid-19 case, who is a child of the 1,725th coronavirus patient, in Tien Thang Commune of Me Linh District.

According to the municipal Health Department, the baby boy underwent a Covid-19 test and was quarantined at a military facility on January 31, with negative result.

On February 10, the baby had a fever and coughing. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Hanoi collected his samples for Covid-19 testing and the result came out positive.

Data from the Ministry of Health showed that Hanoi had confirmed 28 Covid-19 locally-infected cases since January 27 to date.

In related news, nearly 1,000 health workers and employees of the HCMC Eye Hospital recently had their samples collected for Covid-19 testing to avoid the risk of community transmission, confirmed Nguyen Tri Dung, director of the HCMC Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The move came after a Covid-19 patient had visited the hospital, he said.

Tang Chi Thuong, deputy head of the HCMC Health Department, told Tuoi Tre newspaper that this coronavirus patient is a relative of a patient currently being treated the Eye Hospital and was confirmed as positive for the virus after visiting the hospital.

This is not among the 33 locally-infected cases that the HCMC health authority recently reported.

During the hospital visit, this individual always wore a face mask. The testing activity was aimed to ensure all of the hospital staff remain safe, Thuong added.
