Building in Times City locked down

Thousands of residents of the T6 building of Times City residential compound in Hanoi’s Hai Ba Trung District were ordered not to leave the building on Friday, according to VN Express.

This lockdown order was executed after the People’s Committee of Vinh Tuy Ward found out that “Patient 1,581″ lives in the building.

At 8:30 a.m. the authorities erected barriers on the way to the T6 building and the main hall. Medical staff conducted disinfection spraying all over the area. Some residents, via the phone number of Times City Management Board, ordered food and essentials. Others asked their relatives to buy and leave food by the fence, which they could then come and collect.

“This temporary quarantine is meant for epidemiological investigation, and the lasting time will depend on the developments of this pandemic,” said Do Phuong Nga, president of the local ward. She also announced that residents of T6 building have to self-quarantine at home.

“Patient 1,581, a 54-year-old woman has been tested positive for the coronavirus on Jan. 28. Five days previously she had visited the mother of “Patient 1,553” who is a male member of staff at Van Don airport in Quang Ninh Province. After the visit she is reported to have drove her husband to Hai Duong.

She returned to the T6 building at Times City on Jan 25. and subsequently took her grandchildren home from school, visited a drugstore, and went shopping at Vincom Mega Mall City. During this period, she did not physically come into contact anyone and always wore a mask.

The Ministry of Health announced a total of nine community coronavirus cases in Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong and Hanoi on Friday morning.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Vietnam has risen to 1,651, with 1,430 recovered and 35 deaths.
