Bloomberg: Vietnam’s economy unexpectedly expands amid virus outbreak

It cited figures from the General Statistics Office on Monday that Vietnam recorded positive growth despite shrinking trade activities as a result of the pandemic. GDP in the second quarter rose 0.36% from a year earlier, compared with a revised 3.68% in the first quarter.
Vietnam’s GDP expansion in the first half of 2020 was a modest 1.81% but the country is still likely to be one of the better performers in Southeast Asia this year.
