A hotel where the man lives is blocked for virus prevention.

The 22-year-old man is a student who returned from the US on December 20. Right after landing at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, he was sent to a local quarantine area.

During the quarantine, he tested negative for Covid-19 for two times. At around 4 pm on Monday, he finished the quarantine and was released to return home. He was then taken home by five members of his family in two cars.

At that time, his third Covid-19 test result had not yet been announced.

At 7 pm on the same day, he was taken home in Bai Chay Ward and then was transported to a nearby restaurant for dinner with his family. Right after that, the man felt tired and was brought home.

The driver then returned home with his wife in the same ward. His wife then visited a local mobile phone shop on the same evening.

All people who had come into close contact with him have been quarantined and vulnerable areas sterilised.

Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of Hanoi Centre for Disease Control, said people who had close contact with the student will have to undergo another 14-day quarantine.
