A total of 90 Vietnamese citizens in Nigeria and Cameroon, on June 24 with support from the Vietnamese Embassy in Nigeria in collaboration with local authorities, moved to Lagos city, then boarded a flight operated by the Ethiopian flag carrier to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Later on June 25, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines took them along with over 40 Vietnamese workers stranded in the country to the homeland.
Upon their arrival at Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh, all passengers received a health examination and went into quarantine as per the regulations to ensure no possibility of community-associated infection.
Considering epidemic situation at home and abroad and quarantine capacity in localities, representative Vietnamese agencies and domestic airlines will run more flights to bring citizens homes.
Vietnam in late March suspended entry for all foreign nationals and it has recently resumed flights for foreign experts, businesspeople and skilled workers after the COVID-19 epidemic was brought under control in the country. However, it “not reopen en mass” and has not received international tourists yet.
Vietnam and Japan have agreed to partially ease travel restrictions in an effort to resume trade cooperation between the two countries. The two sides will exchange specific measures and procedures through diplomatic channels to prevent the spread of the virus and comply with relevant regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control of each country.
The first Japan-Vietnam flight carrying 150 Japanese experts to work in Vietnam landed at Van Don international airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh on June 25.
This week, three flights from Japan’s Narita airport are scheduled to land at Van Don airport, bringing nearly 450 Japanese businesspeople to Vietnam. The flights are supported by the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) in Vietnam./.
