Snow has been forecasted to cover some areas in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, including Sapa and Y Ty, in this year’s winter.
According to Luu Minh Hai, director of Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Centre, the temperature of the sea surface across the equatorial Eastern Central Pacific Ocean has continued to be on the fall due to the impact of La Niña. The decrease would be much sharper in the last months of the year and early 2021.

The temperature of Lao Cai in October this year and January and March next year is predicted to be equal to that of many previous years. Meanwhile, it would be by 0.5-1 degree centigrade lower in November and December this year and February next year.
The province would see 8-9 strong cold snaps in this year’s winter with the first forecasted in early December.
Hoang Lien Son Mountain in Sapa District and Y Ty area in Bat Xat District would face snow.
