The Vietnam Traditional Fish Sauce Association has its predecessor from the Vietnam Traditional Fish Sauce Club established in 2016, under the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
In May 2017, the Club formed a Campaign Committee to establish the Vietnam Traditional Fish Sauce Association with 17 members who are individuals, production and business organizations, scientists, experts who understand fish sauce. . On September 3, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued Decision 309 on the establishment of Vietnam Traditional Fish Sauce Association.
Also today, the first congress of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Traditional Fish Sauce Association Vietnam term 2020-2025 took place, Ms. Ho Thi Kim Lien, President of the Fish Sauce Association of Phu Quoc district, province. In addition, the congress also elected the first-class BCH with 21 members, including Mr. Huynh Ngoc Diep, Director of 584 Nha Trang Seafood Joint Stock Company.
Vietnam is the leading producer of traditional fish sauce in the world, with a capacity of 170-180 million liters per year. The fish sauce villages of Vietnam from South to North with many recipes for brewing and distillation for different types of fish sauce. Many members of the association have successfully brought traditional fish sauce to Amazon and supermarkets in many countries. Modern technology is also applied in many factories producing fish sauce that are members of the association. However, traditional fish sauce is generally subject to great competition from industrial sauces due to price and taste factors.
