On August 26, 2020, 80 Kia Soluto cars produced at Thaco Kia factory in Thaco Chu Lai Industrial Park (Quang Nam) were exported to Myanmar, the third batch of THACO passenger cars brought to this market as of December 2019. Thaco is gradually implementing its goal of becoming a production and export hub for Kia Motors vehicles and spare parts in the ASEAN region.

Myanmar is an automobile market with a high growth rate. According to the Myanmar Automobile Association, the number of cars sold in 2019 is nearly 22,000, an increase of 5 times compared to three years ago.
Currently, the Myanmar Government is increasing measures to recover the economy after the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic with a more open policy, so the demand for cars from customers is also increasing. After reopening to operations in June 2020, the Myanmar auto market quickly recovered with sales of 2,631 units, up 20.4% compared to May 2020, opening more opportunities for imported cars.
Promoting exports to Myanmar is one of the goals that Thaco set in its roadmap to become a production and export center for Kia Motors vehicles and spare parts in ASEAN. Currently in Myanmar, Super Seven Stars Motors Industry (SSS) is a distributor of Kia passenger cars and the models provided by SSS are not very diversified, with high prices due to being imported from Korea.

Through Kia Motors Korea and SSS, Thaco has implemented a project to export Kia cars from Vietnam. Thanks to diversified products, reaching global Kia quality standards and more suitable selling prices, Kia cars produced by Thaco are increasingly available in Myanmar.
By the end of 2019, Thaco’s first shipment of export to Myanmar was 120 Kia Cerato cars. May 2020 continues to export 80 more vehicles and received positive feedback. This August shipment is 80 Kia Soluto cars – one of the new models loved by customers in Vietnam. This B-class sedan is intelligently designed, equipped with a new fuel-saving 1.4L Kappa engine, with 2 versions: 4-speed automatic transmission capable of intelligent transmission and a 5-speed manual transmission.

In particular, Soluto was chosen by Kia as the first model to be equipped with Kia Link smart connectivity feature in Vietnam. This is a completely new feature developed by Kia following the trend of digital technology, helping to warn and support in time when problems occur. Since its launch in Vietnam in September 2019, Soluto has regularly participated in the top 10 best-selling models in the market with total sales of 8,540 cars by the end of July 2020.
In addition to passenger cars, it is expected that in November 2020, Thaco will export a batch of 45-foot floor trailers to Myanmar. Previously, on August 22, the company exported 80 Kia Grand Carnival to Thailand, this model named Kia Sedona in the Vietnamese market.
