First Cao Phong orange shipment to UK

HCMC — Seven tons of oranges grown in Cao Phong District in the mountainous province of Hoa Binh were shipped to the United Kingdom (UK), marking the first shipment of the local specialty to a European country.

The Cao Phong District People’s Committee, the Hoa Binh Province Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the R.Y.B Joint Stock Company and Cao Phong Hoa Binh Liability One Member Company Limited jointly held the ceremony celebrating the first orange cargo to the UK yesterday, January 5.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, Cao Phong District is a well-known agricultural region that produces orange with a sweet, tender taste and a good appearance.

The shipment has highlighted the province’s 40-year efforts to promote Cao Phong oranges to the global market, said Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Bui Duc Hinh.

According to local officials, there have been around 1,358 hectares under orange and tangerine farming in the district, with a total output exceeding 20,000 tons annually.

The authorities are committed to supporting local farmers to enhance their cultivation and production methods, with an eye on seeking business opportunities both at home and abroad, said Nguyen Huy Nhuan, director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hoa Binh Province.
