Lufthansa Cargo launches freight service to Hanoi

HCMC – German cargo carrier Lufthansa Cargo began offering a new freight service linking Frankfurt with the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi today, November 24.

The maiden flight was launched on November 2 in Frankfurt. With a stop in Mumbai, the Boeing 777F aircraft landed in Hanoi on schedule on November 3. Lufthansa Cargo has been flying to Hanoi twice a week since then.

With the existing twice weekly flights to HCMC, the carrier is thus doubling its capacity to Vietnam and is the only carrier to connect Hanoi and Frankfurt.

The four weekly freighter flights to and from Vietnam result in a regular cargo capacity of 250 tons per week.

All freight services to Vietnam are operated by AeroLogic using Boeing 777F aircraft. AeroLogic is a joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo set up in 2007.

Lufthansa Cargo’s long-haul fleet comprises 16 Boeing 777F aircraft, with five being operated by AeroLogic. Each aircraft has a cargo capacity of up to 103 tons and has a range of 9,045 kilometers.
