The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs on June 23 had an online working session with Vietnam Private Business Association (VPBA), Vietnam-Europe International Business Association and Union of Vietnamese Business Associations in Europe.
At the working session, Permanent Deputy Secretary General of VPBA Nguyen Thu Do thanked State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs for connecting with VPBA and Union of Vietnamese Business Associations in Europe.
He hoped that the two sides would cooperate specifically by signing an agreement program and forming relationships through affiliate members, together bringing Vietnamese goods closer to European friends, Vietnamplus reported.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Ngo Huong Nam expressed his belief that the domestic and Vietnamese enterprises in Europe would realize cooperative projects with various activities and VPBA and the union would strengthen connection by signing an agreement program.
Nam added that the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs was always willing to support enterprises at home and abroad foster collaboration, contributing to boosting the national economy.
President of the Union of Vietnamese Business Associations in Europe Hoang Manh Hue informed participants on its advantages in bringing Vietnamese goods abroad, for instance, it has a strong Vietnamese community, is an important retail distribution network, owns large commercial centers, understands the local market and especially has a generation of young, well-trained and visionary expats.
Hue said that with its advantages, the union was ready to cooperate with domestic enterprises to export goods to Europe.
Leaders of a number of Vietnamese business associations in Europe said that Vietnamese items in the continent had encountered stiff competition, thus, it was needed to have timely measures.
Through field surveys, overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs realized that there was a great potential for exporting products in localities and small businesses. They also hoped to exchange and collaborate with domestic businesses to promote exports.
More than three tons of lychees from the northern Bac Giang province have arrived in Germany via the e-commerce platform Voso, said the E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The agency said that it was the first time that Vietnamese agricultural products had been shipped to Europe through the “cross-border e-commerce” model on an e-commerce platform developed and operated by Vietnam.
Sponsored by Viettel Post, Voso launched its Voso Global last March. Voso Global is where consumers in foreign markets, especially Vietnamese expats can find high-quality Vietnamese farm produces.
Bac Giang lychees exported to German are GlobalGAP-qualified ones which meet requirements on the phytosanitary and control in Vietnam and Europe. Besides, the fruits are labeled with traceability stamps.
Voso has taken advantage of Viettel Post's smart logistics system to deliver high-quality lychees to German customers.
The “cross-border e-commerce” model is expected to open up more opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products to be exported to Europe, particularly when the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has come into effect.
