Transport Ministry seeks State capital for Ca Pass Tunnel project

HCMC – Securities and petroleum stocks were outstanding performers on the local stock market today, December 28, contributing to the benchmark VN-Index’s 0.64% increase.

The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange added 6.91 points, or 0.64%, from the session earlier to close the day at 1,091.33 points, with winning stocks outnumbering losers by 240 to 194.

The southern market saw 723.88 million shares worth nearly VND14.6 trillion changing hands, increasing by 10.89% in volume and 12.92% in value compared with the previous session. More than 60 million shares worth some VND1.65 trillion were traded in block deals.

In the VN30 basket, 14 stocks gained ground while 13 others declined. Among the winning stocks, securities and petroleum stocks were the biggest gainers. Petroleum stocks GAS and PLX soared by 3.2% both to end at VND86,900 and VND54,800, respectively, while securities corporation SSI surged by 5.61% to VND32,000.

The southern bourse also saw remarkable growth of many other securities stocks. HCM and VND added 3.1% and 4%, respectively, while CTS shot up to the ceiling price at VND15,100.

Similarly, petroleum stock PXS soared by 6.2% to VND7,520 and PVD shot up to the ceiling price at VND15,400. PVD also had good liquidity with 19.67 million shares traded.

Among bank stocks, bluechips such as VCB, BID and TCB gained ground, while CTG, MBB, EIB, HDB, STB and VPB fell by approximately 1%.

In the group of small and medium stocks, LCG, KBC, HHS, DRH, OGC, HAR and BCG shot up to the ceiling prices. Industrial zone developer ITA was the most actively traded stock on the southern market with 28.11 million shares changing hands.

Electricity firm POW increased by 6.9% to VND13,150 with up to 27.39 million shares traded after the company announced its projected after-tax profit in 2020 of over VND2.3 trillion.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased by 2.14%, or 4.12 points, against the previous session to close the day at 196.57 points, with gainers outnumbering decliners by 119 to 90. There were 122.33 million shares worth over VND1.58 trillion traded on the northern bourse.

A number of petroleum stocks including PVS, PLC, PVL and PVC and securities stocks such as SHS and APG shot up to the ceiling prices.

PVS was the most actively traded stock on the northern market with 21.38 million shares changing hands, followed by property group HUT with 14.96 million shares.
