The 2022 ‘Work the Nordic Way’ event featured a keynote from world-famous Danish toy company Lego and speeches from the ambassadors of Sweden and Norway. The third-annual Nordic networking and business promotion conference was the biggest so far, gathering over 400 guests to connect Vietnamese job-seekers with world-leading companies from Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden doing business in Vietnam.

Organized by the Nordic Chamber of Commerce (NordCham), one of the largest European business associations in Vietnam, and four Vietnamese-Nordic alumni associations, the event took place at the Intercontinental Saigon. This year, it focused on the theme of a diverse and inclusive workforce. Nordic countries are world leaders in this area, and speakers from some of Europe’s leading companies shared how promoting inclusion in the workplace contributes to business success and socio-economic growth.

The event also included a jobs fair and workshops with major Nordic companies including Tetra Pak, Home Credit, Novo Nordisk, Ikea, and Esoft.

Speaking after the event, Mr. Truong Van Tuan, Sales Development Director at leading Danish beer company Carlsberg, said: “This is an important event for Carlsberg. The participants are talented, so we had a chance to introduce job vacancies to potential candidates and find people to develop our team in the future. Meanwhile, diversity and inclusion is a meaningful culture, and one which we embrace at Carlsberg so that all our employees have equal opportunities to develop themselves.”

Meanwhile, Vietnamese graduates of Nordic universities make a huge contribution to socio-economic growth in Vietnam, using their new knowledge and skills to benefit local and international companies right across Vietnam.

Ms. Quyen Vu, a graduate of Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland and a project manager in the education sector based in Vietnam, said: “This is the second time I have attended Work the Nordic Way. The Nordic work culture is a very successful model and I think it should be promoted more in Vietnam, especially in relation to diversity policies, as these could help contribute to a better work environment. The event also enabled me to meet companies and learn information that I can share with our students who might want to explore job opportunities in the future.”

Mr. Thue Quist Thomasen, Chairman of NordCham Vietnam, added: “Our third-annual Work the Nordic Way event has been a huge success. Our audience has doubled compared to the first two conferences – highlighting the strength of the Vietnamese market and the success of Nordic companies. The event is a real win-win for our members and for Vietnamese job-seekers. In connecting the brightest and best Vietnamese graduates from Nordic universities with our world-leading companies, both can learn from each other and grow together.”
